At age 34, Gigi is the oldest female of the group. She is very intelligent and was the first gorilla Franklin Park Zoo zookeepers trained. The zookeepers describe her as “smart and amenable to do things.”

Gigi is fond of grapefruit and green bananas. If given a ripe banana, she will throw it away and eat only the peel.

Gigi also likes to carry around and “wear” pieces of cloth.
