Little Joe and Okie, two of Franklin Park Zoo’s western lowland gorillas, are avid finger painters. Working with their keepers, finger painting is a part of the Zoo’s enrichment program designed to keep the gorillas intellectually stimulated. Come visit the zoo and see the first public showing of their work in an exhibition entitled “Okie & Little Joe: A Retrospective.”
Open every day during zoo hours, except during private events.
Art Contest
From June 24 – August 20, kids will be invited to submit their best finger painting masterpiece, either created at home or at one of the Zoo’s free finger painting afternoons. Winners will be selected by a panel of esteemed art experts in mid-August, and will receive a painting by Okie, as well as a special Behind-the-Scenes tour of the Zoo.
